A school
that encourages you to trek on the rugged mountain slopes during the
monsoon. Allows you to punch bags to express anger. A class room that
opens out in the garden of flowers. A place bursting with
smiling, happy faces of children. A hub of world-knowledge
and Indian tradition – Yes ! one can go on and on and still not completely
describe a fully residential Birla Public School. Situated in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan the school enjoys, today, an unrivalled and
unparalleled status of a ‘ Fine Institution ‘ of the country. Birla
Public School holds a rich history of more than six decades –
which was started by legendary and unpretentious paradigm of
contemporary age – Padmavibhushan Syt G.D. Birla in 1944.
The
school presently under the dynamic leadership of Col. (Retd.)
Devdutta Choudhury enjoys an honourable status of Autonomous in CBSE – New Delhi since
two decades. Every year from the grandeur of pink dawn to flaming orange
sunset the School celebrates Founder’s Day and Montenssori's day on
31st of August . It opens its extravaganza with a big bang – when it hosts
all IPSC Schools across the country and organizes “ All India English
Debate” and other activities.

History
The
school was founded by the Birla Educational Trust in 1944 as a Montessori
School under the able guidance of Dr. Maria Montessori, the world famous
pioneer in child education. It was then known as Shishu Mandir. The
Institution remained a day school till 1948. The first hostel for children
was built in the same year. By 1952, the school was changed into a purely
Residential Institution. A year later, the school was accepted as a full
member of the Indian Public School Conference. It was due to the vision and
farsightedness of the renowned industrialist, educationist and
philanthropist, Shri G.D. Birla that this nursery school gradually developed
into a full-fledged Public School in 1954. It was Shri G.D. Birla's golden
dream to establish a unique system of education on the sandy dunes of
Rajasthan which was once an odd assortment of a few tall imperial buildings
and some mud huts. It has now 15 beautifully designed
hostels catering to the needs of the 1000 pupils coming from different
cultural backgrounds. The school has three sprawling green campuses
with vast play grounds and courts.

The
School in its Mission Statement
speaks
of Service Challenges, Adventure, Academic Excellence, Creativity and
Positive Attitude. Therefore, our prime responsibility is to prepare young
minds to act as leaders to promote economic industrial growth as future
citizens of the country.
The
school is dedicated to prepare conscientious and responsible citizens with a
sense of integrity and honesty with a spirit of adventure,
exploration, research and creation. The school
believes in fostering each individual's potentialities and
providing opportunities for successful learning and growth.
The
school trains the students in such a way that they learn to shoulder
responsibilities and handle situations independently.
Particular attention is given to: -
* Stimulating intellectual curiosity directing and
exercising the emotions encouraging clear thinking and spiritual
learning and creative thinking.
* Fostering a capacity to tackle a problem and to follow
and sustain an argument, emphasizing the difference between truth and
falsehood, and between fact and feeling.
Why choose Birla Public School Pilani?
-
We are an
all-boys school with 1200 students. The evidence of independent
value-added analysis is that we consistently achieve better
examination results for our pupils - whether bright or average -
than other similar schools. All teachers live in the School
campus and it is this which makes possible the outstanding
diversity of worthwhile activities on offer in the evenings and
weekends. On Sundays we have an impressive range of activities,
including sports tournaments, which cannot happen in a day
school.
-
We have
three resident staff in every boarding house - the House Master,
Asst House Master and Matron/Hostel Superintendent. This enables
us to give the best level of pastoral care.
-
We place
high emphasis on the development of qualities of leadership and
teamwork. We have a rich heritage and strong school personality:
Pupils develop a keen sense of the past and what we owe to it.
-
Our
pupils are from all states and abroad also.
How do we achieve such good results?
We achieve
excellent exam results by having high target oriented teaching by
employing the best of the teachers. Our pupils are expected to work
hard and our teachers are expected to teach in a way which will
motivate pupils. We aim to teach well and inculcate in our pupils a
work ethics which enables them to achieve to the optimum limit of
their abilities.
Every boy in
the School has an Academic Mentor to guide him. Relatively small
form sizes enable teaching staff to take better individual care.
Care for the individual boy
In a boarding
school it is possible to place a greater emphasis on care for the
individual than can normally be feasible within the limited time
available in a day school. Every boy is helped to develop to his
maximum potential. Work is monitored carefully and extra help given
where so ever necessary. The many activities on offer, often in the
evenings and at weekends, enable all boys to develop interests and
skills. We do not aim to produce a type but rather a well groomed
individual who shows both a determination to do things well together
with courtesy and consideration for others.
There is a
great range of activities available to occupy boys so no boy should
ever be bored. Many of the School's facilities are open during
weekends, including the Sports Centre, Art Centre, Library and
Computer Centre etc. In addition in every term there are organised
outings expeditions and field trips on weekends.
