CO-CURRICULAR
ACTIVITIES
Equal importance is given
to academics, games and extra curricular activities in school
curriculum. BPS promotes the best habits of independent thought,
learning, and research in its boys; The School provides a broadly-based
education designed to enable all boys to discover their strengths,
respect for individuality, difference, and the contribution that each
boy makes towards of the school and the community; supporting pastoral
care that nurtures physical health, emotional maturity and spiritual
richness.
Widest possible range of
co-curricular activities including Swimming, Skating, Judo, Gymnastics,
Music, Art, Band, Electronics, Dances, Horse Riding, Sculptures,
Declamations and Debates at National level - is what spells out Birla
Public School. The School lays great emphasis on co-curricular
activities for the complete development of the child’s personality. We
have playgrounds which include Football, Athletic Tracks, Basket Ball
Courts, Tennis Courts/Skating Rink. Camping and Trekking are some of the
most favourite and compulsory activities for the senior boys.
We have two
large well ventilated opulent auditoriums with central electronic
surveillance and advanced sound systems that double up as Indoor
activities’ arena where debates /declamations, quiz, workshops, dramas,
dances, and other personality enhancement activities take place.
PHYSICAL AND
HEALTH EDUCATION
The scheme of physical education is so planned as to
ensure the fullest and manifold development of the individuality of the
child, enabling him to attain mental soundness, emotional stability,
physical maturity and moral values. Games and sports are organized in
such a way so as to ensure participation by all students. At the same
time students take part in the following games: Football, Hockey,
Cricket, Basketball, Tennis and Volleyball according to the season and
indoor games like Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess and Carom etc. These
games are organized on House basis. Besides the Inter-Houses
Competitions, school teams participate in the Inter-School Tournaments.
Teams from other Public Schools are invited and our
students also go out to play. Field and track events are organised every
year and a particular House is given the responsibility to organise the
meet.
The middle and the senior section boys play all the major
games P.T. is compulsory for all. The school has a well-equipped
gymnasium and a good swimming pool of standard size with filtration
plant.
The school lays great stress on Horse Riding. The school
stable has 20 horses and qualified staff of instructors and syces. Horse
riding is compulsory for all students from classes VI to XII. The school
riding team has the distinction of participating in Prime Minister's
Republic Day Rally in New Delhi. In addition to games, well-qualified
instructors provide regular coaching to students in Athletics, Basket
ball, Tennis, Judo, Gymnastics and Swimming.
In accordance with the syllabus of the 10+2 pattern,
Health and Physical Education is taught as one of the subjects in
Classes XI & XII.
Training in Rock Climbing and Mountaineering forms
another notable feature of the school. Selected students are sent to
Rock Climbing and advanced leadership courses every year. Hiking,
picnics, sightseeing, tours and trekking are organized for all students.
BADMINTON
: School has a standard Badminton hall for playing
Badminton. Inter House competitions are organised every year.
TABLE
TENNIS
: In all 15 houses (Jr.,Middle & Sr.) separate Table Tennis Tables have been
provided. Every year school organ ises
IPSC Table Tennis championship.
CHESS
: To improve the mental power and concentration, every
student is motivated to play chess. “A game of skill”.
SQUASH
: School has the facility of Indoor fibre glass squash
courts in Multipurpose Hall (Rose Hall) . A compulsory activity for all age
groups.
CARROM
: During common Room time students enjoy this
game.

SWIMMING
:
- We have International level short course Swimming pool and Diving
well. Swimming is compulsory from Classes IV to XII . At the end of
the session we organize the Inter house Swimming, diving and water
Polo competitions. We organize the Jhunjhunu District Aquatic Meet at our
Swimming Pool. Our students participate in State, National and I.P.S.C.
Aquatic Meets.
SHOOTING :
- We start the shooting practice from the Class V onwards. We have our
school shooting team and our team is ready to face the National Level
Challenges. We participated in the state level Competition and other
many major Competitions with a flourish.`

Debates
and Declamation
IPSC DEBATE
:We are the permanent members of IPSC ,NPSC ,JSA, Round Square Conference,
USO ASP Network and Headmaster’s Conference (UK). Every year All India
Vidya Niketan Diamond Jubilee IPSC debate is held on 31st August. Renowned
leading IPSC Schools, Sainik Schools and Military Schools from all over
India take part in it. Our students also participate in other IPSC Schools
all over India. All India Vidya Niketan Silver Jubilee Memorial debate was
started in the year 1969 in the Silver Jubilee year of the School. The
debate is open to boys and girls of Higher Secondary School or its
equivalent. There is a running trophy for the Debate. Individual prizes are
awarded to the speakers securing first five positions. Professor, Principals
from well renowned Institutions are invited to assess the young
and budding debaters.
DECLAMATIONS
:
English Declamation contests are organised at House Level as well as
Inter School Level.
SPEECH
:
Language is a skill to be acquired. Therefore to enable students for
higher education in Global Environment their Oratory Skills are developed to
suit their social & professional needs. Every day in the Morning
Assembly boys speak on current topics. At ante room time
boys are encouraged to speak on the topics given by the HMs. This
enables them to communicate effectively and appropriately in real life
situations.
ELOCUTION
:
To develop confidence in students Elocution Competitions are organized Class
Wise/ House Wise. Students are encouraged to narrate incidents and
events, real or imaginary, in a logical & cohesive sequence. Oratory
skill is also developed through poetry & extempore.
ONE ACT PLAYS
:
To develop artistic skill & confidence all students have
to perform on stage.
CALLIGRAPHY
:
Calligraphy competitions are held to develop an artistic sense in pupils
–both at class and school level.
MORAL:
Throughout there is a holistic approach to social issues. We teach to foster
respect for all religions. To inculcate the human values moral –based skits
are performed periodically. Religious functions are celebrated.

SPIC MACAY
We
are active members of SPIC MACAY. Every year, cultural programmes of
SPIC MACAY are organised in our school. The aim is to keep alive and
preserve Indian Culture through Art, Folk Dances and music.
CREATIVITY
To
develop a sense of creativity and love for nature the children are taught, oil
painting, water painting, tempra painting, frescos, collage and murals from
class one onwards. Spot Painting competitions are also conducted and
children are awarded.
