7th All India Vidya Niketan Diamond Jubilee Memorial English Debate

            Pilani – Birla Public School, Vidya Niketan Pilani hosted the 7th All India Vidya Niketan Diamond Jubilee Memorial English Debate on the topic “Is the State of India after 64 Years of Independence still a Continuation of Colonial State of Structure”?  in Vijay Hall on 31st August’2011. Captain(IN) Alokesh Sen, Principal Birla Public School, Pilani welcomed the Chief Guest and other guests of honour. The Chief Guest to the event Professor B.R. Natrajan, Vice Chancellor Sridhar University stressed the need, importance, ways and means of the debate in a democracy. 38 students from different elite schools of the country participated in the debate whole heartedly  and with great enthusiasm. The jury comprised of  Dr. N.S. Nathawat, Asst. Professor, S.B.D Todi College Laxmangarh, Dr. V.S. Nirban , Asst. Professor, BITS, Pilani and Mr. Vishwa Bandhu, Asstt. Professor M.K. Saboo P.G. College of Commerce, Pilani. Col V.N. Ratnakar , Director BET Pilani, Capt. (IN) Alokesh Sen , Principal BPS, Pilani, Dr. (Mrs.) M.  Kasturi, Principal Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani, Col. S.S. Shekhawat , PRO BET Pilani and Mrs. M. Dimri  Birla Shishu Vihar, Pilani were among the  other dignitaries present on the occasion. The overall school wise winner was Birla Public School, Pilani but due to host school, as per rule the trophy was bagged by Rajkumar College, Raipur. Birla School, Pilani and Birla Balika Vidyapeeth , Pilani were the runner up. In the Individual positions, Shashi Saurav Birla Public School, Pilani bagged the first position. Virat Kohli of Scindia School, Gwalior, Abhishek Vijay Sharma of Birla School, Pilani, Kumari Gopika Singh Judev and Kumari Sanjana Baghel  of Rajkumar College, Raipur  and Rohan Singhla of BPS, Pilani bagged third, fourth and fifth positions respectively. The prizes, trophies and certificates were given away by the Chief Guest, Director BET and Principal BPS . Mr. Aniruddha Kumar, Convener of the event proposed vote of thanks at last.
