Janamashtami Celebration Competition
The Inter B.E.T. Krishna Janamashtami Competition was celebrated with great pomp and show in the lawn in front of Vijay Hall on Monday, 22-8-11 at 8.30pm. In total eight Jhankies related to Lord Krishna’s life were depicted. The first Jhanki was related to the scene of the prison where Lord Krishna was born. The second Jhanki was related to the crossing of the flooded river Yamuna by Lord Vasudev carrying the newly born Krishna on his head. The third Jhanki was related to the mischiefs done by Lord Krishna and his friends in connection to the stealing of Makhan. The next Jhanki was related to the ashram of Maharshi Sandeepni where Lord Krishna spent his time in getting education as well as learning many such things which had a great significance in our everyday life. The next Jhanki was the scene in which Lord Krishna was shown dancing on the head of Kaliya Nag after demolishing his pride and getting an assurance from him to go away from the river for the benefit of the humanity The next scene was related to a dance sequence Dandiya based on the Raasleela in which the girls of Vrindavan were dancing along with their lover which they hoped to be Lord Krishna himself. The next scene was related to a sequence of Holi where Lord Krishna was shown playing Holi with the people of Vrindavan in an atmosphere of mirth and frenzy. The last Jhanki was related to the immortal sequence of Geeta Updesh where Lord Krishna was shown giving the gospels of Geeta to Arjun. The judges for the above competition were Mr. V.N.Dhaulakhandi, Director, Museum, Mr. Sanjeev Borbora, Education Officer, B.E.T. and Mrs. Anamika from B.I.T.S respectively.
The Director, B.E.T., other B.E.T. officials, Guests and the Judges were welcomed by the Principal, Capt. Alokesh Sen. The judges took rounds of the various Jhankies and inspected them very minutely. They also listened to the boys who stood in front of every Jhanki and explained everything related to it.. All the staff families and boys of Senior, Middle and Junior Sections took rounds of the various Jhankies and enjoyed the display. The presentation of the Jhankies on an overall basis was appreciated by one and all. The Chief Guest thanked the boys for putting up a very good show on the occasion. He also thanked the staff and appreciated their efforts in guiding the boys and for putting up a marvellous show.
